Sierra Nevada Brewing Company began with a hand-built brewhouse in 1980. Its first test batch? Five barrels of stout. Forty-some odd years later, the brand is one of the largest craft breweries in the country and continues to lead the category it helped to create.

CHALLENGE

Sierra Nevada was born out of a love for beer and countless hours exploring the mountains that became the brand’s namesake, but its website was not conveying that passion and energy. Moxie Sozo was asked to create one that has both, reconnecting the brand with its outdoor roots and to reinvigorate its current (and future) fanbase.

SOLUTION

The new sierranevada.com brings the brand’s “enjoy outdoors” ethos to life, showcasing all of the ways and places their brews are best appreciated: on the slopes, at the summit, around the campfire, and many more.

Beyond aesthetics, the new site introduced several technical improvements, including a totally reimagined back-end experience that makes the site almost endlessly customizable and future proof without sacrificing robust functionality.

For brewers with a portfolio of beers as broad as Sierra Nevada’s, a simple beer finder can create any number of problems. We custom built Sierra Nevada’s, allowing users to quickly and easily filter literally hundreds of SKUs to find exactly what they’re looking for at a store near them.

The new website also streamlines operations at the brand’s pubs, too. For events at its “Big Room” taproom and in Chico, California, for example, the website integrates directly with Eventbrite, as well as offering a variety of functions to improve collaboration between staff members at all four of its locations.

As the brand continues to evolve, Moxie Sozo continues to assist with further development and optimization, helping to ensure that Sierra Nevada’s website—just like its beer—remains a gold standard for the industry.
