CLIENT

The Boston Beer Company helped to launch the craft beer category in 1985 with the introduction of Sam Adams Boston Lager. Today, they are the 2nd largest craft brewer in the United States with more than 60 styles of Sam Adams beer and a brand portfolio that includes category leaders like Angry Orchard Hard Cider, Truly Hard Seltzer, Twisted Tea Hard Iced Tea, and more.

SOLUTION

In an aisle jam-packed with hard lemonades, ciders, and seltzers, Wild Leaf instantly stands out.

The bold white type and stark red backdrop help to ensure that consumers clearly understand what the brand offers at a glance, with additional content helping to share the brand’s commitment to rainforest conservation.

Unlike many of its competitors, who put bold, indulgent flavor cues front and center, the Wild Leaf wordmark partially obscures its ingredients, adding an air of mystery and alluding to the brand’s rainforest sourcing.

Additionally, the minimal design and restrained illustrative style lend an elegant simplicity and craft to the packaging, further elevating the brand’s premium look and feel—an aesthetic that had been missing (and sorely missed) from the aisle.
